Firebirds Lose Fourth Straight, 2-1 in 2OT

UDC soph Atunde Akum (out of picture) ties score at 1-1

After a promising start (3-0-1) the UDC men's soccer team has fallen on tough times, losing four games in a row. This latest loss was especially tough, as the Firebirds fell to the University of Bridgeport 2-1 in double overtime. Coincidentally, Bridgeport won its fourth straight.

All-American Clayton Ulmer assisted on senior Lee Middleton's header goal at 102:42 to seal UDC's fate. The Firebirds' Atunde Akum tied the score at 1-1 with less than four minutes remaining in the first half: It was Akum's first goal of the season. The Purple Knights improve to 2-0 in the ECC, while UDC falls to 0-2 in conference play. Today's game lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes, with 200 fans in attendance. UDC looks to break their losing streak next Saturday at home vs. the Dowling Golden Lions.
