Founding Farmers Twitter/X Food Review

Founding Farmers Breakfast

Founding Farmers Breakfast ($16.50) at @FoundingFarmers. Sundays are busy (use @OpenTable for free reservations) but service was professional & quick. Eating upstairs is less noisy, but it’s still hard (for me) to understand why people line up forever to eat breakfast here. My scrambled eggs 🍳 were pretty tasty, but the hash browns and (single) maple 🍁 pork sausage link… relatively ordinary. Luckily, FF’s Buttermilk Biscuit was memorable for all the right reasons… crumbly, hot & yummy. A- for the biscuit.

Burger Baby Twitter/X Food Review

Burger Baby's Double Cheeseburger (sans queso)

I’ve seen the future (of fast food) and it is #Wonder-ful. Rosslyn’s new food hall (coming soon to Cleveland Park) opened last month, and I got my first peak tonight. Maiden voyage? Burger Baby. Ordered on their app, and it was ready in 10 minutes flat. You can eat inside, and it’s literal bliss. As for the food, their $9.95 Double Cheeseburger (sans queso) is two 1/4 lb patties (cooked well done) with gorgeous lettuce 🥬 tomatoes, onion & pickles. Nice & juicy, although I’d prefer a choice of doneness. Grade: B Their Barbecue Fries ($5.45) are hot, tasty & heavily seasoned. Bonus: They come with an original Sweet & Sticky Sauce that’s a real difference maker. B+ Great customer service & energy too. I think 🤔 I’m in love 😻.

IHOP Twitter/X Food Review

Fisherman's Platter at IHOP

Stick to What You Know… Better

@IHOP serves a pretty good breakfast, but beware exploring the rest of the menu. This includes their Fisherman’s Platter which features two inedibly greasy pieces of “fish,” five breaded shrimp and a handful of tasteless fries (for $15.99.) Everything’s hot, but that’s the only positive I could think of. Atmosphere? Cold A/C 👍 and a mix of awful music (Jason Aldean, The Honeydrippers & Matchbox 20) you’d never want to hear (ever) again.

Popeyes Chicken Dippers Twitter/X Food Review

Chicken Dippers at Popeyes

New Chicken Dippers ($4.99) at @Popeyes with BoldBQ sauce. Identical to their scrumptious Tenders, only smaller. I counted 14! B+ Matched with DMV-best Mashed Potatoes & Cajun Gravy (A) & banner Cinnamon Apple 🍏 Pie 🥧 ($1.89 deep-fried & delicious EVERY time, A+) Yes, Popeyes is that good 😋

Bethesda Crab House Twitter/X Food Review

Crab Cake Sandwich at Bethesda Crab House

Last night with Talia, so it’s dinner at her fave @BethesdaCrabs. 6 GIANT medium crabs 🦀 ($62.50) for her (flaky, great flavor!) and a silky smooth Crab Cake Sandwich ($23.95) on a potato roll with creamy, delicious Cole Slaw for me. Quarter pound of crab meat is plenty, leaving room for 10 Hush Puppies (crunchy outside, soft & tender inside.) Attentive staff & country 🎶 (Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith) round out a casual, slightly pricey Sunday dinner.

90 Second Pizza Twitter/X Food Review

Margherita Pizza with Sausage & Onions at 90 Second Pizza

Lickety-Split

Fast food doesn’t necessarily conjure up thoughts of culinary bliss, but Georgetown’s 90 Second Pizza 🍕 more than holds its own… and at a substantial savings ($10.99 + $1 toppings.) Talia & I ordered a Margherita pie with Sausage & Onions before heading next door to see @FantasticFour. It’s fast indeed, and the results are (mostly) impressive. San Marzano tomatoes 🍅 produce a robust sauce & their mozzarella/parmesan blend is gooey & tasty. Sausage was plentiful & zesty. Nice char as well. Not so good? The edges were doughy (especially compared to the interior pie,) cheese & onions sparse, and overall, a bit too flimsy. However, for the price, quality & speed, it rates a solid B.

McDonald's Snack Wrap Twitter/X Food Review

Spicy Snack Wrap at McDonald's

That's (Not Much of) a Wrap
My first Spicy 🌶️ Snack Wrap at @McDonalds swings and… misses. Nice order taker caught the first error (no cheese) before I did, but sadly doused with ranch sauce instead of the promised Spicy Pepper Sauce. Cold pita bread & not enough lettuce = prolonged disappointment. At least it only cost me $2.99.

Little Beast Cafe & Bistro Twitter/X Food Review II

Bacon Cheese Smash Burger at Little Beast Cafe & Bistro

I'll Have the Pizza

Back at @LittleBeastCafe, but this time it's for a burger! Their $20 Bacon Cheese Smash Burger (sans cheese) looks great, but sadly lacks flavor (no salt, no pepper) despite two delectable strips of bacon and an even better pretzel bun. Only one leaf of lettuce and a small slice of tomato = unimpressed C- plus a fistful of dirty, lukewarm (also unseasoned) fries that screamed ordinary. D Our advice? Stick to the pizza.
