Citizen Vigilante Twitter/X Movie Review

Armie Hammer stars in Citizen Vigilante

A (Cinematic) Death Wish

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: A man takes justice into his own hands, hunting down criminals. His vigilante crusade turns him into a social media sensation while putting him at odds with law enforcement and drawing the attention of dangerous enemies. Directed by Uwe Boll.

There’s 2 ways of looking at #CitizenVigilante. 1 is political, and a world of extreme views with no apparent middle ground. Bad people exist, and some/many people want them punished. Trouble is, stereotypes are a poor way to justify it.

Then there’s the movie itself. A clumsy, almost comical portrayal of one narrow point-of-view that isn’t indicative of an entire story. 2️⃣ wrongs don’t make a right, and neither does a series of senseless scenes and consequences. Armie Hammer returns from hiatus & delivers a heartless, wooden version of Liam Neeson in Taken. The “action” is laughably bad (esp. armored container shootout) which waters down the dangerous message of the movie. Bad people are bad, not (just) migrants. There are ways of making a point. #CitizenVigilante isn’t one of them.

Grade: F (Why?)
