Is this even considered news anymore? Capital One closed its umpteenth branch, this time at the fast disappearing Collection of Chevy Chase in Friendship Heights. Capital One joins former neighbor Amazon Fresh (February 1) in saying adios to the upscale neighborhood. Perhaps it's not as upscale as we've been led to believe? Why close? The usual "everyone's switching to online banking" excuse. Why not at least leave an ATM in its place? The service there was often suspect, even more so than other Capital One locations; but at least you could deposit a check or cash there, if you were in a pinch. We won't suggest the next closest location, because odds are, it will be closed as well. "Thanks" Capital One.
