Men’s Basketball Takes Care of Business vs. UMass, 74-52

In a game that George Washington almost had to win to stay in the hunt for optimal postseason seeding, the Revolutionaries did exactly that, pummeling visiting UMass, 74-52.

In a parting gift for the Minutemen, who exit the Atlantic 10 after this season, the last game ever in an A-10 rivalry that has lasted almost 50 years and provided numerous thrillers wasn't particularly close.

The GW Revs overcame the slightest deficit early to run away late, securing the largest margin of victory (22) in a league game since a win at Fordham on December 30, 2020.

Rafael Castro (#30) led GW with 11 rebounds

The Revolutionaries connected on 48.2% of their shots from the floor, including 39% behind the arc, led by redshirt freshman Christian Jones' game-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-5 3-pointers) and game-high five assists. Rafael Castro (13 points, game-high tying 11 rebounds) and Trey Autry (12 points, 3 threes) also played a major role in the win.

Trey Autry (#0) scored 12 points

Just 1.5 games behind the fourth spot in the conference standings at 7-8 with a three-way tie at 8-6 ahead of them, three games remain for the team to secure an all-important double bye in next month's tournament in downtown D.C.

Darren Buchanan Jr. (#3) added 6 points off the bench

Up next, George Washington looks to tackle Loyola Chicago on the road, Wednesday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET. The Ramblers sit at 9-5 in third place in the Atlantic 10.
