Tick, tock... tick, tock. Cue beads of sweat across my forehead. Why so anxious? The 94th annual Academy Awards starts in just over an hour, and I haven't even started to post my predictions. Last year was... a pass, fresh off an unimpressive 8 (correct) out of 11 in 2020. So without further adieu, let's dive in.
Best Picture: CODA (Flip a coin with The Power of the Dog, but I think Apple tops Netflix for top honors.)
Best Actor: Will Smith, King Richard (Finally, Will Smith gets some much-deserved Oscar love.)
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain, The Eyes of Tammy Faye (Chastain tops Penélope Cruz in a close one.)
Best Supporting Actor: Troy Kotsur, CODA (Put it in the bank.)
Best Supporting Actress: Ariana DeBose, West Side Story (See above.)
Best Director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog.
Best Animated Feature: Encanto
Best Cinematography: Dune (Another flip of the coin (with The Power of the Dog.)
Best Foreign Language Film: Drive My Car (Japan.)
Best Adapted Screenplay: CODA
Best Original Screenplay: Belfast (It should be Don't Look Up, but...)
