Men's Basketball Earns No. 7 Seed in A-10 Championship
Colonials will match up with No. 10 seed Massachusetts at 6 PM on Thursday
GW men's basketball will be the No. 7 seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Championship, its highest seed since 2016-17. The Colonials will square off with No. 10 seed Massachusetts at 6 PM on Thursday night at Capital One Arena in Downtown DC.
The Buff & Blue outperformed external expectations in league play, finishing six spots higher than their No. 13 slotting in the league's preseason poll. The six-spot jump is tied for the largest in the A-10 this season.
In the process, the Colonials earned a first round bye in the tournament for the first time since 2016-17 and will take on a Massachusetts squad that they defeated 77-68 in Amherst on February 9.
GW is 6-4 all-time against UMass in the A-10 Championship, most recently defeating the Minutemen in the first round of the 2019 tournament.
