GW volleyball took Maryland Eastern Shore to five sets on Saturday but fell to the Hawks, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 11-15.

Saturday's match marked the first time this season that GW and its opponent went the distance in five sets.

Junior Addie Feek (#4) led GW with 3 block assists

Addie Feek set a new career-high with 11 kills on 17 attempts to hit for .529. Salem Yohannes tied her career-high with 18 kills.

Senior Bella Bowman (#3, 18 digs) gives chase

GW's defense was a solid contributor to the five-set affair, with Lauren LaBeck, Yohannes and Bella Bowman recording more than 18 digs apiece.

Senior Noelle Dwyer (#18) recorded 6 kills

LaBeck also tacked on 29 assists to GW's season-best 53-kill offense.

Soph Liv Womble (#10) registered 7 kills

The Hawks' offense rifled off 18 kills in set one and hit for .389 to take the set advantage. In set two, GW was able to slow down the visitor's offense, allowing just 11 kills with .051 production. GW found the other side of the floor 10 times and added four of the teams' nine total service aces to knot the match up at 1-1.

Soph Elizabeth Drelling (#17, 1 kill)

In set three, GW's attack found success 15 times to the Hawks' 14, which kept the two teams within four points of each other the entire way, with GW holding the four-point lead at 14-10. Behind a pair of kills and an ace by the Hawks at 23-22, Maryland Eastern Shore regained the match advantage.

Junior Sarah Pintel (#8) celebrates

With the help of five kills, GW jumped out to an 11-5 lead in set four. Maryland Eastern Shore would cut the deficit to two but continued to trail the remainder of set four before a kill and two Hawk errors helped the home team force a fifth set.

Senior Heather Merryman (#9, 9 digs)

In the 15-point final set, Paz Dozie-Nnamah got in on the action for the first time of the afternoon and quickly added to GW's offense with three kills. However, the Hawks' 8-2 early lead helped the visitors take home the victory.

GW's Lauren LaBeck led all players with 29 assists

UP NEXT: GW will play in its final non-conference tournament next weekend at the Mountaineer Invitational. GW will play three matches across two days squaring off with West Virginia, UMBC and Robert Morris.
