“Air & Scare” Takes Over the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum will host its annual “Air & Scare” family day from noon to 5:30 PM, Saturday, October 26, at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Visitors will enjoy safe, indoor trick-or-treating and spooky activities for all ages at this free event.

Designed with the whole family in mind, aerospace will come alive with fun activities, all with a Halloween twist. Participants will enjoy creepy crafts, spooky science experiments and treat giveaways. The Tot Zone will feature space-themed activities and a dress-up corner. Story times and puppet shows will be available throughout the day and the Airbus IMAX Theater will offer showings for all ages. Everyone’s favorite Star Wars-costumed characters will be on-hand for photo opportunities. Visitors will have a chance to participate in a range of fun educational activities including making their own mini lightsaber, learning about the secret Area 51, a Halloween principles of flight lesson and many more.

Attendees are encouraged to come in their favorite space or flight-themed costume, or costumes of any kind for safe trick-or-treating. For safety purposes, full-face masks are prohibited on visitors over 16 years of age. The museum will provide bags for trick-or-treating.

Admission is free, but parking is $15 until 4 PM. Public transportation is also available via Metro’s Silver Line and the Fairfax Connector bus.
