Three-Time Grand Slam Champion and World No. 4 Angelique Kerber Commits to the Hawaii Open Tennis Tournament
Former world No. 1 joins Kei Nishikori on the Hawaii Open roster
Angelique Kerber, currently ranked No. 4 on the WTA Tour, has committed to play in the 2019 Hawaii Open Tennis Tournament, presented by the Hawaii Tourism Authority. She joins U.S. Open semifinalist and ATP World Tour No. 7 Kei Nishikori. The Hawaii Open will be held December 27-29, 2019, in Honolulu.
Since turning pro in 2003, the former World No. 1 from Germany has won 12 singles titles, including three Grand Slams (2016 Australian Open, 2016 US Open, and 2018 Wimbledon.) Other career highlights include appearing in 17 tournament finals and joining the German Fed Cup Team and the German Olympic Team.
“I’m excited to visit Hawaii for the first time and compete in the Hawaii Open against other top players,” Kerber said. “It’s the perfect preparation for the upcoming season in one of the most beautiful destinations on earth.
