Embassy Chef Challenge Returns April 2nd

The 11th Annual Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge presented by TCMA is a gathering of embassy chefs from around the world, showcasing the unique flavors of their home countries in a friendly, delicious culinary competition. With embassies participating from across the globe, the 2019 challenge offers an international and immersive foodie experience only possible in Washington, DC.

Attendees will travel the world with their taste buds, sampling bites and beverages from the participating countries. A panel of judges will select the winner of the Judges’ Choice Award presented by TCMA, while attendees can cast a vote for their favorite dish awarded to the People’s Choice Award presented by Events DC. For a second year in a row, the Best Beverage Award presented by PepsiCo, and the Macy’s Best Dressed Award will be presented to competing nations.


This year’s judging panel includes Maria Godoy of NPR’s “The Salt,” Ashley Rose Young, food historian at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Rose Previte, owner of award-winning DC restaurants Maydan and Compass Rose, Chef Xavier Deshayes, Executive Chef of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, and Chef Moha Fedal of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco and winner of the 2017 Judge’s Choice Award. The event will be emceed by Ed Henry, Anchor & Chief National Correspondent for FOX News Channel.

The Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge presented by TCMA not only encourages culinary diplomacy but also highlights the global achievements of the area’s awe-inspiring musicians, dancers and singers. This year’s entertainment will include performances by Aaron Myers & Co., Quiet Storm Trio, Brazilian Jazz band Origem, Ghana’s Nathan Pryce + Dreams, and a Bolivian Dance Troupe, as well as sets from D.J. Biks.

TICKETS: General admission tickets are $95 and will include all available global sips and bites, as well as live entertainment throughout the evening. For $160, VIP guests can enjoy a one-hour early entry to meet all the chefs, network with diplomatic community, and have access to the exclusive VIP lounge with seating and a private bar. Guests looking for the ultimate night out can purchase the Stella Artois Chalice VIP Package for $175, which includes a limited-edition branded chalice. A portion of proceeds of the Stella Artois VIP package will benefit water.org providing five years of clean water to someone in the developing world.
