Nando's Dupont Re-Opens Tomorrow

From our friends at Nando's PERi-PERi...

Nando's Heats Up Dupont Circle, Re-Opens Wednesday, February 20th

After two-month renovation, 18th Street Nando's gives PERi-PERi to the people once again

After an extensive two-month renovation, Nando’s PERi-PERi will fire up its grills again near Dupont Circle (1210 18th Street, NW) starting Wednesday, February 20th, at 11 AM.

After 10 years of operation in a stately, historic building, the 18th Street Nando’s was ready for a major revamp. Today, the restaurant features a new kitchen, draft beer taps and beautifully re-designed dining areas. The customer take-out experience has been vastly improved, with a grab-and-go beverage refrigerator and a convenient order pick-up area near the host stand.

“Every Nando’s is uniquely designed with earthy textures and bright colors that reflect its sunny African heritage,” said John Fisher, CEO of Nando’s PERi-PERi North America. “Our Dupont location is no exception and is now truly ready for its closeup.”

South African artisans have created handmade furniture for the Dupont Nando’s and unique lighting, including woven pendant lights fabricated from recycled clothing. In addition, the restaurant features original works of art from South African artists. With thousands of pieces of art that are a constant reminder of where the restaurant came from, Nando’s has become the largest collector of South African contemporary art in the world.

To celebrate the patience of its hungry fans during the revamp, Nando’s will hold a “Dash” on Thursday, March 7th, and offer succulent PERi-PERi chicken and other entrees for free. Any customer who dashes to Nando’s Dupont for lunch on March 7 from 11 AM - 1 PM will be treated to spicy flame-grilled chicken for free, for either eat-in or carryout guests.

About Nando’s PERi-PERi:
Nando’s has built an intensely loyal following by providing fresh food in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. PERi-PERi, or African Bird’s Eye Chili, is the heart and soul of the Nando’s experience. Nando’s marinates its chicken in PERi-PERi for at least 24 hours, so the flavor goes right through to the bone. Then it’s grilled over an open flame it and basted with PERi-PERi sauce to each customer’s preferred spice level.

The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 24 countries on five continents. Nando’s PERi-PERi made its U.S. debut in 2008, and now operates 42 restaurants in and around Washington, DC, Baltimore and Chicago.
