Halloween Movie Review

Jamie Lee Curtis stars in Halloween

By Today's Standards...

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. Directed by David Gordon Green.

"There's a reason we're supposed to be afraid of this (Halloween) night." After watching the umpteenth reincarnation of the 1978 original, I'm still trying to figure it out. Green's Halloween is plenty entertaining (Curtis, Jobrail Nantambu, violence galore) but deep down, it's nothing we haven't seen before. Clueless cops, deviant teens and an over-the-hill serial killer... Is it really that hard to come up with something new? Perhaps a different mask, or better yet, a copycat killer who doesn't amble around town like a spaced out Frankenstein. Fans of the franchise will (likely) be delighted, but they deserve better.

Grade: C+
