DC VegFest Cancelled Due to Hurricane Florence Forecast

From our friends at Compassion Over Killing...

While the annual DC VegFest is a rain or shine event, Compassion Over Killing regretfully must cancel this year’s event as the Mayor’s Office of the DC Government has just declared a state of emergency in response to the weather forecast related to Hurricane Florence.

This is the first time our 10-year history of hosting this free event that we’ve had to cancel due to weather, though it has rained twice before.

The DC VegFest, attended by more than 20,000 people, has always been hosted outdoors with the risk of cancellation due to weather.

“Compassion Over Killing is sad to announce that the 2018 DC VegFest has been cancelled in the face of Hurricane Florence, and we appreciate all of the participation and interest our event has received this year,” said Erica Meier, Executive Director of Compassion Over Killing. “We know that the DC community will join us once again when our event returns next year.”
