Skyscraper Movie Review

Neve CampbellDwayne Johnson (r) star in Skyscraper

Daddy to the Rescue

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary's Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he's been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building... above the fire line. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.

"Light a man's house on fire, and you find out what he truly loves." Light The Rock's house on fire... and odds are, someone's gonna get hurt. Johnson kicks plenty of ass in Skyscraper, a "$6.5 billion chimney" that pales in comparison to Die Hard and The Towering Inferno, but manages to check all the boxes of a summer blockbuster in the process. The first 30 minutes or so are surprisingly compelling/good, but that eventually gives way to one preposterous action sequence after another. Lucky for us, they're executed by the most charming guy in Hollywood. Familiar, but fun.

Grade: C+
