Tag Movie Review

Jeremy Renner & Jon Hamm (r) star in Tag

Miscarriage of Justice

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they've been playing since the first grade - risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry, "You're it!" This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they're coming... and he's ready. Based on a true story, "Tag" shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing. Directed by Jeff Tomsic.

I've got a "great" idea for a movie. Let's assemble five 40-something guys (with nothing in common) and watch them play tag for 100 minutes. Skeptical? What if I threw in a first-time director and a pair of screenwriters (Rob McKittrick & Mark Steilen) who think lame dick & pot jokes are anyone's idea of funny. Still on the fence? Why not add two attractive women to tag along, and a wedding... so you (hopefully) confuse Tomsic's sophomoric Tag with The Hangover or Wedding Crashers. Don't be fooled: This is a bad movie, we've seen too many times before.

Grade: D
