A Quiet Place Movie Review

Emily Blunt & Millicent Simmonds (r) star in A Quiet Place

Quiet on the Set

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: In the modern horror thriller A Quiet Place, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you. Directed by John Krasinski.

Less is (usually) more, and Krasinski's A Quiet Place is a perfect example. It's only 94 minutes long... the majority of which takes place in eerie, glorious silence (under 100 lines of dialogue, and almost no music.) That's a welcome change from the cling & clatter of most Hollywood horror films, and a surefire way to win this critic's heart. It's similar to last year's It Comes at Night, with touches of I Am Legend & War of the Worlds for good measure, plus plenty of chills/thrills (despite a lack of backstory and security common sense (carpet, weapons, etc.))

Grade: B
