12 Strong Movie Review

Chris Hemsworth stars in 12 Strong

A Good Bad Kill

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Chris Hemsworth ("Thor," "The Avengers" films) and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road," "Nocturnal Animals") star in "12 Strong," a powerful new war drama from Alcon Entertainment, Black Label Media and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Based on the best-selling book Horse Soldiers, it's a story of heroism based on true events that unfolded a world away in the aftermath of 9/11. Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig.

Hemsworth promises, "We'll be in this fight boys. Mark my words." Duh, it wouldn't be a movie if they weren't. Then again, 12 Strong is a lousy movie, no matter who's fighting. Nobody wants to watch Hemsworth and his poorly cast team (warning, Michael Shannon almost dies of old age towards the end) crawl around New Mexico for 2+ hours, dodging low budget explosions and colorless Afghans, who yell a lot (minus subtitles, when they're not throwing stones at women.) Hard to believe it was directed by a photojournalist, "famous" for rolling 250,000 bouncing balls down a hill. Bounce this.

Grade: F
