Annual Rock the Core Cider Festival Comes to MRP Realty's Massive Edgewood Site in Northeast DC

From our friends at Drink the District...

Annual Fall Celebration Brings New Flavor to Burgeoning Neighborhood

Drink the District, a local food & beverage-inspired event company, announced today they will host this year’s Rock the Core Cider Festival on the future site of MRP Realty’s (MRP) planned Edgewood mixed-use development Bryant Street, at 680 Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast Washington, DC. The two-day, annual cider-tasting event will be held on Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28.

“Our annual event brings together cider-lovers of all backgrounds to commence the holiday season over a shared fall tradition,” said Steuart Martens, Founder and CEO, Drink the District. “The festival is always held in a growing, attractive Metro-accessible area to expose residents to a new part of the city. We think attendees will really enjoy the Edgewood neighborhood, with Metro’s Red Line station at Rhode Island Avenue less than a five-minute walk from the festival grounds.”

Uniting the District’s cider lovers and fall enthusiasts, Rock the Core will feature a curated selection of regional cideries and breweries. The pop-up festival will offer over 100+ ciders, craft beers and wines onsite with three 3-hour sessions of unlimited samples. While sipping and exploring fall’s best variety of apple flavors, attendants will be treated to top DC-based food trucks, a local artisan market, live entertainment, lawn games and Ford’s Built Ford Tough Toughest Tailgate. Additionally, there will be a retail store location on-site so attendees can purchase the beverages they’ve tasted to take home.

“Holding this annual festival on our property in Edgewood is one of the creative ways we are trying to highlight this little-known community to other District residents,” said Michal Skena, Senior Vice President of development at MRP. “This is just a preview of the type of vibrant activity and offerings soon to come to Bryant Street and the rest of the emerging neighborhood.”

The event offers a General Admission Package complete with unlimited tastings and a commemorative cup, and a Cider Lovers Package which includes the general admission offerings, in addition to a 12-pack of handpicked ciders to take home. Residents of MRP’s Dock 79, in the Capitol Riverfront, and Elevation at Washington Gateway, in NoMa, will receive special discount codes.

Tickets to Rock the Core can be purchased at www.rockthecorefest.com.

MRP eventually plans to transform the site into a mixed-use, transit-oriented community complete with 1.5 million square feet of mixed-use across nine buildings, including 1,450 residential units and nearly 250,000 square feet of retail. It is currently one of the largest residential developments in the District’s development pipeline.
