Aronofsky does his bestworstLars von Trier impersonation in mother!, hands down, the most disappointing (and maddening) movie of the year, if not the decade. The director/writer clearly has issues with misogyny and religion... so much so, he decides to torture his real life girlfriend (Lawrence) after demeaning her (and apparently all women) for the full duration of the movie. It starts off like Rosemary's Baby, before drifting into a manic mess, the likes we haven't seen since Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers. Pfeiffer is terrific; but otherwise, mother! is a lousy, poorly cast/shot pile of crap.
