As if
Pike & Rose wasn't great enough already. Along comes
Pinstripes, and its 37,000-sq.-ft. of bocce, bowling and
fine scrumptious food. The two-level entertainment mecca opened its doors to the general public Friday night, providing four hours of free (yes,
free) drinks, food and games to 2,000+ enthusiastic locals... and
not-so-locals (yours truly.) If Friday's sneak peak was any indication, Pinstripes is about to turn Rockville Pike on its ear.
There's no shortage of dining options in and around Pike & Rose, but entertainment (movies at nearby
iPic Theaters notwithstanding) is hard to come by. Isn't it nice to
do something, in between eating and shopping? Pinstripes provides that, and then some with 14 bowling lanes, in a well-lit (tons of natural light, rare for bowling) alley tucked away on the second floor, and a dozen bocce courts throughout (including
outdoors.) Prices are more than fair, $5-15 per hour (depending on time of day) for bowling (plus $5 to rent shoes), and $5-10 per hour for bocce.
As for food & drink, thing big...
really big. Pinstripes has three full service bars, tons of dining space and plenty of room leftover for special events (think parties, weddings, etc.) I didn't have a chance to sample their mostly Italian-American
full menu (soon, I promise) but if it tastes half as good as it looks... watch out.
