Escape Velocity 2017 Comes to DC

Actors, scientists, authors and artists... gaming, drone-racing, and much more!

The Museum of Science Fiction is bringing Escape Velocity 2017 to Washington, DC, from September 1-3 at the Marriott Wardman Hotel & Convention Center. Building on the first annual Escape Velocity in 2016, which attracted some 2,700 attendees, the event will combine the fun of comic cons with the fascination of science and engineering festivals to entertain and to promote STEAM education.

An out-of-this-world event for adults and kids alike, Escape Velocity particularly seeks to re-invigorate the interest of young people in science, technology, engineering, art, and math by producing and presenting the most compelling, exciting, educational, and entertaining science festival in the United States using science fiction as the primary engine. About the Museum of Science Fiction:
The nonprofit Museum of Science Fiction will be the world’s first comprehensive science fiction museum, covering the history of the genre across the arts and providing a narrative on its relationship to the real world. Currently a virtual museum that also produces exhibits and events, the MOSF is raising funds toward a brick-and-mortar presence in the Nation’s Capital. The Museum will show how science fiction continually inspires individuals, influences cultures, and impacts societies. Also serving as an educational catalyst to expand interest in the science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) areas, the Museum uses tools such as mobile applications and wifi-enabled display objects to engage and entertain. It also publishes the tri-annual Journal of Science Fiction.
