Personal Shopper Movie Review

Kristen Stewart stars in Personal Shopper

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Grieving the recent death of her twin brother, Maureen (Kristen Stewart) haunts his Paris home, determined to make contact with him. Directed by Olivier Assayas.

Maureen proclaims, "It's extremely difficult to find a portal into the spirit world." Au contraire Ms. Stewart. The oft-brooding Twilight star appears right at home in Personal Shopper, a slick and (somewhat) suspenseful French thriller that favors style over (cheap) thrills. Be warned, there are stretches where almost nothing happens; but like her or not, there's no denying that Stewart is one of the most interesting actors in the business. If only she'd smile once in a while. There's a surprise twist two-thirds in (assuming you don't watch the trailer) but it manages to stay compelling to the very end.

Grade: B-
