DMV Restaurants Band Together to Benefit Best Buddies

From our friends at Best Buddies...

Bring Your Best Buddy

Restaurants across the DMV offer specials to benefit Best Buddies PROM2017

Best Buddies Month is celebrated globally each March in a month-long campaign of inclusion for people of all abilities. This year as Washingtonians need to come together more than ever, Best Buddies Month will bring celebrations all around the Beltway and awareness for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

From March 19-31, the regional restaurant community joins together for “Bring Your Best Buddy,” with special offers designed to encourage friendship, sharing and great food and drink for a good cause. For this two-week period, participating restaurants will present a special selection of menu items designed to be shared by diners and their ‘best buddies” with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Best Buddies Prom which will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on April 28th.

A sampling of presentations include two drinks and an appetizer from Occidental, two slices of olive oil bread from Centrolina, desserts from Bastille, Happy Hour pairings from Oyamel, Jaleo and China Chicano, two sandwiches from G by Mike Isabella, banana pudding and two shots of Whiskey from Crisp Kitchen and Bar, Blue Plate Specials at all Rocklands locations, chips & salsa, brisket nachos, and crispy smoked brisket nachos paired with a Bloody Maria and a cookies & cream ice cream sandwich paired with a vanilla Martini from the Dish and Dram, meatballs from Carmine’s, and the “How Jefferson Would Have Liked It” cocktail from Farmers and Distillers.

PENFED Credit Union will generously match up to $10,000 in donations from the ‘Bring Your Best Buddy” campaign.

ABOUT BEST BUDDIES PROM:
After outgrowing event spaces, such as Pinstripes in Georgetown, the Howard Theatre in Shaw and the Carnegie Library in Mount Vernon Square, PROM2017 has found its home for the next three years with Trade Center Management Associates (TCMA) at Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in stunning downtown Washington, DC.

This year, PROM2017’s fundraising goal is $250,000, allowing the Capital Region to roll out the long-awaited Best Buddies Citizens program. Over 100 adults in DC and Virginia have reached out to Best Buddies looking to be matched with their own Buddy. Tickets are available at BestBuddiesProm.org.

Best Buddies’ mission is to establish a volunteer movement locally and globally that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD.)
