Pollo Campero Kicks Off 2017 with Its Light Latin Meals

From our friends at Pollo Campero...

Campero Takes a Walk on the Lighter Side with Bold, Flavorful Meals Under 500 Calories

Pollo Campero, the world’s largest Latin chicken restaurant brand, is kicking off 2017 with its light Latin meals, perfect for those looking to cut both calories and costs in the new year. The meals, which spotlight Campero’s famous Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken and street corn salad, give guests several under-500-calorie-options that, while lighter in calories, are big on bold Latin flavor.

“It’s the start of a new year and we know many people are watching what they eat and what they spend,” said Federico Valiente, national brand manager for Pollo Campero International. “Our light Latin meals give them the best of both worlds - lean, low-calorie options at a good value.”

At the heart of Pollo Campero’s light Latin meals is Campero’s famous Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken, which is hormone free, always fresh and never frozen. It pairs perfectly with Campero’s street corn salad, which is a mix of spring mix lettuce, grape tomatoes, roasted corn and peppers, tossed with cotija cheese, toasted pepitas and Campero’s flavorful Latin pesto.

Pollo Campero has created several Latin meal options under 500 calories. They include:

• Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken breast and drumstick, along with street corn salad (472 cal.)
• Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken breast and wing, along with Campero black beans (418 cal.)
• Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken breast and traditional fried drumstick, along with Campero rice (450 cal.)
• Citrus Peruvian grilled chicken thigh and drumstick, along with guacamole (489 cal.)
• Five Camperitos, along with street corn salad (439 cal.)

For a limited time only, guests who visit participating restaurants can enjoy a meal of any two pieces of either Citrus Peruvian or traditional hand-breaded fried chicken, street corn salad or any Latin side, tortillas and a medium soda for only $5.99. Families can also enjoy 10 pieces of grilled or fried chicken for $14.99.

“We strive every day to offer our guests unique menu options they can’t find anywhere else,” said Valiente. “And that includes options for guests who want big, bold flavor, but are also watching what they eat. These meals are proof you can have both.”

In addition to its light Latin meals, Pollo Campero also offers several gluten-free menu options, which include guacamole and Latin favorites such as sweet plantains, yuca fries and Campero rice.

Pollo Campero, considered the home of Authentic Latin Chicken, is the largest Latin chicken restaurant brand in the world. It first opened its doors as a tiny, family-owned restaurant in Guatemala in 1971 with the goal of treating family and friends to its prized chicken recipe passed down from generation to generation. Today, Pollo Campero’s focus on quality, and its mission to stay true to its Latin roots remain the same. Campero is committed to serving unique Latin recipes prepared by hand daily using high-quality and all-natural ingredients. At the heart of that commitment: the promise to use fresh, never frozen, hormone-free chicken paired with traditional Latin sides, drinks and desserts in a vibrant atmosphere. There are more than 350 Pollo Campero restaurants around the world and Campero is accelerating growth.
