xXx: Return of Xander Cage Movie Review

Vin Diesel & Deepika Padukone (r) star in xXx: Return of Xander Cage

Rebels and Tyrants

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. Packed with the series' signature deadpan wit and bad-ass attitude, "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" will raise the bar on extreme action with some of the most mind-blowing stunts to ever be caught on film. Directed by D. J. Caruso.

Samuel L. Jackson asks, "Do you want some of this?" After sitting through 107 minutes of Caruso's xXx: Return of Xander Cage, my answer is (a resounding) no. Rarely will you find such a combination of hot babes (Nina Dobrev, I love you) mindless dialogue ("It's gonna take two flushes,") and overloud, relentless violence, centered around a 49-year-old action hero dressed in a fluffy fur coat (and tank top.) Remember The Expendables (all three?) This could easily be number four, only with less star power and more sex. Comic book-preposterous... for insecure teenage boys (and the "adults" they become.)
