Union Market’s West Elm Lab 1270 Pop-Up to Host Free Poetry Event with Author Kia Dawkins January 14-15

Culinary and retail district in northeast DC to host two-day poetry reading, discussion and journaling event on self-care

Vibrant culinary and retail district Union Market welcomes poet and author Kia Marie Dawkins to the West Elm Lab 1270 pop-up location (1270 5th Street, NE) for a free two-day poetry event focused on community, productivity and self-care. The "Times of Poetry and Wine” sit-and-sip will take place on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15 from 1 to 4 PM.

Dawkins will lead the discussions, motivating attendees while allowing them to bring productive and healthy spirits into the New Year. “I’m so excited to host this reflective discussion through poetry at Lab1270,” says Dawkins. “A new year brings so much potential for a fresh start, and I wanted to host the event to inspire creative writing over glasses of wine and thought-provoking conversation.”

Light bites and wine will be served along with signed copies of Dawkins' book, To Be Drenched in Dreams, Delights, Downfalls, and Dos, which will also be available for purchase. To RSVP for “Times of Poetry and Wine,” click here and for more information, please visit www.unionmarketdc.com.
