Nocturnal Animals Movie Reveiw

Amy Adams stars in Nocturnal Animals

Junk Culture

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival. From writer/director Tom Ford comes a haunting romantic thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension that explores the thin lines between love and cruelty, and revenge and redemption. Academy Award nominees Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves in Nocturnal Animals.

Alfred HitchcockBrian De Palma. And Tom Ford? Based (solely) on Nocturnal Animals, I say (an emphatic) yes. Outside of an absurd/grotesque opening credits, Ford's second film is this close to perfect. It's packed with interesting cameos (Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, Andrea Riseborough) as well as superb leading turns by Adams, Gyllenhaal and Michael Shannon. The pace is riveting, as Ford manages to keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire 116 minutes (while expertly jumping back and forth between stories.) R-rated (for sure) but an absolute must-see, especially if you like a good thriller.
