Bastille Presents "Birds & Burgundy"
Game birds and vintages featured at Bastille
The leaves are beginning to turn, the temperatures getting cooler. Fall is here. It’s the season for heartier fare, richer wines and seasonal veggies. Like mushrooms, root vegetables and more.
In honor of yet another autumn, Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux of Bastille present a five-course ‘Birds & Burgundy’ dinner on November 3rd, beginning at 6:30. The menu highlights the game birds of the season along with Burgundys that pair perfectly with the earthier flavors of fall foul. The dinner is priced at $89 with pairings and $50 without.
The meal begins with Deviled eggs paired with Beujolais Blanc and moves to les gesiers de canard--Confit duck gizzards, poached egg, frisée, croutons with Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes, Bertrand Ambroise 2013; followed by la ballotine de caille aux raisins - Ballotine of quail, mushrooms, foie gras, grapes with Beaujolais Fleurie, Nugues 2013; la pintade en salmis - roasted Guinea hen, bacon, salmis jus, cabbage, onion, carrots, and celeriac paired with Cotes de Nuits Village, Bertrand Ambroise, 2013; and finally le fromage - délice de Bourgogne, with Nuits Saint George, Bertrand Ambroise, 2013.
Bastille is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 AM until 10 PM and Sunday 11:30 AM until 9 PM serving brunch, lunch, dinner and all day dining with café and bar menu offered. The restaurant is located in The Asher at 606 N. Fayette Street in Alexandria, Virginia, just two blocks from the Braddock Metro.
