War Dogs Movie Review

Miles Teller & Jonah Hill (r) star in War Dogs

Between the Lines

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: "War Dogs" follows two friends in their early 20s (Jonah Hill and Miles Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military - a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government. Directed by Todd Phillips.

Teller's David asks, "What do you know about war?" Evidently, not enough. War Dogs shines a (humorous) light on the business end of an AK-47, via the guy who brought us Old School and The Hangover. As you can probably guess, Phillips takes his fair share of liberties; but overall, War Dogs is a literal blast to sit though. Credit an outlandish story and two stellar performances by Hill & Teller. Hill's especially impressive, delivering his strongest physical turn yet (in addition to a plethora of laughs.) If you can stand the absurdity/irreverence, odds are... you're gonna love it.
