Lineup Features a Focus on Photography and More Than 15 Events, Including Explorer Talks, Photo Walks and Student Programs
Today, National Geographic Live announced its fall 2016 season lineup featuring some of the best explorers, photographers and adventurers in their fields. The broad range of programming, which will be presented at National Geographic’s downtown headquarters, continues Nat Geo Live’s long-standing tradition of offering quality events featuring bold people and transformative ideas to multi-generational audiences in the Washington Metropolitan region.
This fall, for the first time ever, National Geographic is partnering with FotoDC and Brightest Young Things to host the world-class photography celebration FotoWeekDC at National Geographic headquarters. The ten-day festival will feature inspiring talks and stunning exhibitions curated by some of the world’s best photographers and filmmakers. The remainder of the fall schedule features presenters covering a diverse array of topics, including exploration, animals, space and conservation.
“For more than 100 years, National Geographic's photographers and explorers have traveled the world to bring home stunning images and unforgettable stories that reveal the wonders of our amazing planet,” said Brooke Runnette, Chief Program and Impact Officer at the National Geographic Society. “This fall, we invite visitors to hear from some of the best as they share their experiences uncovering the earth’s harshest environments, pushing the boundaries of space exploration, and documenting magnificent wildlife.”
The Nat Geo Live fall season runs from September 14 through December 8, with tickets on sale now. Tickets may be purchased online at natgeolive.org/dc, via telephone at (202) 857-7700 or in person at the National Geographic Museum ticket desk between 10 AM and 6 PM.
The schedule also includes three student matinees featuring modified versions of the evening presentations geared towards students. On Tuesday, October 4, Bertie Gregory will present to students in grades three through six about his work on wildlife conservation. On Friday, October 21, National Geographic writer Andrew Fazekas will talk about space exploration with students in grades five through twelve. The student matinee schedule wraps up on Thursday, November 17 with National Geographic Photographer Cory Richards, who will share his experience photographing some of the world’s harshest environments with students in grades five through twelve. Nat Geo Live’s student matinees are open to school groups for $5 per student and include admission to the National Geographic Museum.
