Early Bird Registration Open for Double Exposure, October 6-8

From our friends at Double Exposure...

Save the Date, October 6-8, 2016 in Washington, DC

Produced by the nonprofit news organization 100Reporters, Double Exposure presents a film festival and concurrent symposium, celebrating the best new films inspired by the investigative instinct.  It opens an unprecedented space for filmmakers and investigative journalists to come together to explore common issues, share best practices, and seed new forms of inspiration and collaboration.

Join top investigative journalists and filmmakers, along with emerging professionals, for an unforgettable two days of workshops and master classes, discussions and debates (film screenings continue through October 8.) You will have an opportunity to learn from each other in an informal setting and build ties with commissioning editors, producers, funders and others who can concretely advance your work.

Last year, speakers at this unique gathering included David Simon interviewing members of the Boston Globe Spotlight team, along with director Tom McCarthy and screenwriter Josh Singer; Alex Gibney in conversation with Franklin Foer; New York Times correspondent James Risen; Lowell Bergman, who exposed Big Tobacco's plot to make cigarettes more addictive, as portrayed in The Informant; filmmakers Brian Knappenberger, Kirby Dick, Kirsten Johnson, Carrie Lozano, Ross Kauffman, Matthew Heineman, and 80 others. Symposium sessions examined indirect forms of censorship, cyber security, turning print investigations into compelling films, and more. Edward Snowden participated via Skype.

Attendance at the symposium, taking place at the National Press Club, is limited, so reserve your spot now. Receive a 20 percent discount on All Access passes, available through September 9. A limited number of student discounts are also available.

We recommend booking your hotel early, as other large conferences in town are creating heavy demand for accommodations. Nearby hotels are offering discount codes to Double Exposure participants, available here.

Stay tuned: Full lineup of symposium topics and speakers to be announced in late-August. Film selections and post-screening speakers will come out just after Labor Day. See you at Double Exposure!
