From our friends at Silver Diner...

Locally Owned Company Celebrates 27 Years with New Location

Robert Giaimo, co-founder, president and CEO of Silver Diner announced the official opening of a new Silver Diner location in Frederick, Maryland. The Frederick location (5120 Buckeystown Pike, Frederick, Md. 21704) is the 14th restaurant in the company’s Silver Diner portfolio. Silver Diner is celebrating 27 years since the company opened its first restaurant in Rockville, Maryland.

The 5800 square foot restaurant, located at the Westview Promenade, has 230 seats including a full bar. The restaurant has the same atmosphere as the other Silver Diner restaurants with table-top 1956 Seeburg replica jukeboxes and a locally sourced menu. Unlike some Silver Diner locations, the bar at the Frederick location will be expanded with hand-crafted cocktails, local beers and wines and spiked shakes. Silver Diner employs more than 120 people at the new location including Jose Reyes, the Frederick general manager who has been with the Silver Diner family for 27 years when he started in the Rockville location as a line cook. Reyes and his family live in Frederick.

Silver Diner has built a name for itself for being more than a diner with its vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free menu items that join its classic diner fare. Silver Diner Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst sources many items from regional farms and takes great care in creating menu items that are exceptional and high quality. In addition, Silver Diner has one of the healthiest kids menu in the country which was based on Chef Ype’s work with Silver Diner’s smallest customers.

“We are delighted to be able to bring our signature restaurant to the Frederick community,” stated Giaimo. “As with our other restaurants, we will work closely with the community and local schools through our Eat Well Do Well program and fundraisers.” To date, Silver Diner has contributed more than $650,000 to nutrition and physical fitness programs at local schools through its Eat Well Do Well program.

The Frederick Silver Diner is open daily. Hours are 7 AM to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 7 AM to 3 AM Friday and Saturday. For more information, please visit www.silverdiner.com.
