RedEye Menus Announces 'ShashiSherry' - a Sherry-Focused Wine Dinner in Collaboration with Celebrated Modern Indian Restaurant Indique, Wednesday, July 27th at 7 PM

Just in time to celebrate the one-year anniversary of RedEye Menus this month - originally launched in Washington DC in July 2015 thanks to the talented trio of local sherry-loving ladies Chantal Tseng, Carlie Steiner, and Holly Barzyk - the community-focused collaborative dinner series continues its mission of pairing an impressive variety of sherry wines with Asian-inspired fare by announcing “ShashiSherry” featuring a 5-course spice-infused dinner with celebrity chef K.N. Vinod of celebrated modern Indian restaurant Indique in Cleveland Park on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016.

Priced at $100 per person (inclusive of tax and tip) this one-of-a-kind sherry wine dinner will take place in Indique’s recently renovated two-story open dining room adorned with stunning handcrafted artwork. The decadent evening will begin at 7 PM with welcome cocktails prepared by master DC-based mixtress Carlie Steiner, followed by a seated 5-course dinner from celebrity chef K.N. Vinod complete with hand-selected sherry wine pairings from Chantal Tseng at 7:30 PM. And the evening will conclude with a nightcap cocktail, also provided by Carlie Steiner. Guests can expect to be delighted by Chef Vinod’s sweet and savory dishes including Tamarind Glazed Shrimp Bhel Puri, Lobster & Shrimp Bisque, Beef Coconut Chili Fry, Paneer Makhani, and his signature Kerala Fish Curry paying homage to his hometown, just to highlight a few.

“My fascination with Sherry goes back to my hotel days in India when the famous French chef Roger Moncourt (my mentor) used to use a lot of sherry in his cooking including combining it with whisky and port wine in one dish”, says Executive Chef K.N. Vinod of Indique. “I am also encouraged to see the popularity of the sherry cocktail (Tellisherry) that we have recently introduced at Indique on our new cocktail menu thanks to our beverage consultant Carlie Steiner who just also happens to be involved with RedEye Menus. I am extremely excited to pair sherry with modern Indian cuisine and share this special dinner with both sherry lovers and modern Indian food fans.”

The RedEye Menus team is also excited to be a part of the new release of Gonzalez-Byass’ Tio Pepe Fino En Rama, which just became available in the United States, and to celebrate, Andrew Sinclair from Gonzalez-Byass will be present at the dinner to talk about this special wine.

“I'm sure you've heard the antique pairing rule, "what grows together pairs together?" said Chantal Tseng of RedEye Menus. “Ever since I started pairing sherry with unexpected cuisine, whilst throwing said rule, like caution to the wind, I have been hoping we would find a chef to collaborate with who was truly a master of cooking Indian food. I love bringing worlds together that you wouldn't expect to get along. Wine is arguably the number one food pairing beverage and cultures that don't typically make wine just haven't linked this idea as traditionally and second nature yet. Chef Vinod and the talented team at Indique are a hub of authentic and creative Indian cuisine and I'm honored and excited to celebrate our official one-year anniversary of RedEye Menus this month with them through this exciting collaborative dinner!”
