Wine & Cheese Festival at Slate

From our friend at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro...

Slate Offers Exquisite Cheeses with Wine Pairings for Summer

Nothing is more classic than the pairing of wine and cheese.  Just in time for summer entertaining and picnics, Slate Wine Bar + Bistro, located at 2404 Wisconsin Avenue, NW,  presents a “Wine & Cheese Festival” featuring a variety of cheeses and a selection of wine flights to create different flavor profiles and experiment with several possible pairings.

Chef/Sommelier Danny Llédo encourages guests to taste the flavors combined with the vintage, whether the cheese is eaten plain, with marmalade, honey, fruit, crackers, bread, etc. The wine flights allow for this—a grouping of grapes, each adding its own nuance.

The cheese menu includes choices of Parmesan cheese puffs; fried Brie with mixed berry compote; goat cheese with bacon-wrapped dates; an ‘American Artisan’ cheese plate served with toasted brioche & crostini, house-made kumquat compote, and spicy pecans; and a ‘European Tour’ cheese plate served with toasted brioche, crostini, house-made fennel-honey marmalade, and candied walnuts.

Wines flights include three sparkling selections, four “Interesting Whites,” from Italy to Loire Valley to Germany and Burgundy; four seasonal whites; four Rosés - each a different blend; four “Interesting Reds,” from Spain, California and Portugal; and four seasonal reds. Combined with a cheese selection, each will pair well and offer a different experience to the palate.

Slate is located at 2404 Wisconsin Avenue, NW and is open for lunch, dinner and brunch Monday - Thursday 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:30 AM - midnight; and Sunday, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM. For further information and reservations, call (202) 333-4304, or log into slatewinebar.com.
