Newcomer Ottoman Taverna to Debut Weekend Brunch Service

Turkish-born restaurateur Hakan Ilhan is pleased to announce that Ottoman Taverna, located within the Mount Vernon Triangle at 425 I Street, NW, Suite #107, will launch Saturday and Sunday brunch service on Saturday, May 28th. Brunch will be served from 11 AM to 3 PM in the spacious 160-seat main dining room, which overlooks the exhibition kitchen. Guests can anticipate classic brunch dishes that showcase the true flavors of Ottoman cuisine. Executive Chef Ilhan Erkek’s new brunch menu includes dishes such as the Türk Kahvaltı Tabağı (Turkish Breakfast), sunny side up eggs, olives and feta cheese, served with a tomato and cucumber salad; Sultan Kahvaltı Tabağı (Sultan’s Breakfast), sunny side up eggs, marinated olives, feta cheese, tomato & cucumber salad, honeycomb, kaymak, fig jam and beef mortadella; Sucuklu veya Pastırmalı Yumurta (Sucuklu or Pastırmalı Eggs), sunny side up egg with sucuk or pastırma; Kavurma, crispy lamb, served with melted kashkaval cheese; Menemen, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, onions and sweet peppers; Turkish Egg White Frittata, egg white, feta cheese, spinach, mushrooms and sumac; Türk Omleti (Turkish Omelette), crispy potatoes, feta cheese, olive, onion and parsley, as well as Sultans Poached Egg, poached egg, served with garlic yogurt and spiced butter.

The brunch menu at Ottoman Taverna also includes Süzme Yogurt & Honey with candied hazelnuts, strawberry and pistachio; Gözleme, folded yufka dough stuffed with potatoes & cheese, and the Peynirli Börek (Cheese Pastry), phyllo dough stuffed with cheese. A selection of Soups & Salads, Cold Meze, and Flatbreads off the regular lunch and dinner menus will also available during brunch service. Brunch items range in price from $7 to $24.


For the perfect pairing, brunch-goers can enjoy a collection of cocktails such as Mimosa; Peach Mimosa; Blood Orange Mimosa; Bloody Mary and the Bosphorus Breeze, vodka, fresh basil leaves, fresh lemon juice, lavender syrup, and a splash of sparkling wine. Cocktails are priced from $5 to $8.

Ottoman Taverna is located at 425 I (Eye) Street, NW, Suite #107, Washington, DC 20001, (on 4th Street, between K & I Streets.) The restaurant is located four blocks (0.4 mi) from the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro accessible on the Red, Yellow and Green Lines and five blocks (0.6 mi) from the Mt Vernon Sq. / 7th St - Convention Center Metro accessible on the Green, Yellow Lines.
