Poetry Out Loud National Finals, May 3-4 at Lisner Auditorium

On May 3-4, 53 high school teens from across the country gather in Washington for the Poetry Out Loud National Finals. The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation created this program to help teens learn about classic and contemporary poetry. Top finalists and schools receive $50,000 in awards. The event is hosted by poet Elizabeth Acevedo, and features a performance by hip-hop artist and multi-instrumentalist Christylez Bacon. The event will be live webcast at www.arts.gov.

WHEN: Semifinals with all 53 champions on Tuesday, May 3, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, National Finals with top nine finalists on Wednesday, May 4, from 7:00 to 9:15 PM.


WHERE: Lisner Auditorium at The George Washington University, 730 21st Street NW, Washington, DC.
