Chefs Christophe & Michelle Poteaux's New Beginning
Chef/Owners Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux announce the closing of the restaurant’s former location and current incarnation “Bistrot Royal” at 1201 N. Royal Street in Alexandria after service on April 30, 2016. The husband and wife duo will concentrate on Bastille’s new location at The Asher located at 606 N. Fayette Street in the Old Town neighborhood.
Bastille’s menu will be redesigned to incorporate some favorites from Bistrot Royal’s more casual menu, such as Frisee Salad with Lardons, French Onion Soup and Duck Confit. Bastille’s menu will continue to also reflect the restaurant’s upscale contemporary takes on French cuisine.
Bastille includes an all day Café menu, patio and dining room with full menu that includes a la carte and prix fixe options.
Bastille will honor gift certificates from Bistrot Royal until September 5, 2016.

It is with great excitement and a little melancholia that we announce the closure of our restaurant Bistrot Royal at 1201 N. Royal Street location on Saturday, April 30th, 2016. We have enjoyed tremendous success in this location for the last 10 years and we plan to treat its final week in business as a celebration. We are very proud of the work we have done to create a unique dining experience here in Alexandria, and we feel truly honored to have been a part of special moments in our guests’ lives from engagements to birthdays to weekly dinners.
Our staff has become our extended family and most have been dedicated team members since our opening in 2006, or shortly thereafter. This is a very emotional time saying goodbye to that special place on North Royal Street so we invite you, our guests, to share this time with us.
Over the past year and half, we have been splitting our time between the two restaurants. This resulted in neither being able to reach its full potential. On a personal level, our growing and busy family helped us realize the importance of optimizing our time and our continued endeavors to expand Bastille.
At Bastille at the Asher, our guests can expect the same traditional French dishes with the same consistency, but combined with the contemporary cuisine of Bastille. We will continue to showcase local, sustainable ingredients with a modern approach.
We are so grateful and humbled that so, many guests have chosen Bastille for their special occasions, celebrations, and gatherings over the past 10 years. We are looking forward to continuing to serve and host all at the new Bastille with the same familiar faces, the same quality cuisine and, of course, the same couple at the helm.
Until then, come celebrate with us one last time at 1201 N. Royal Street location. We will be closing Bistrot Royal doors for a final time at the end of service on Saturday, April 30th; and look forward to serving and seeing our customers and friends now and in the future at Bastille on Fayette Street.
