Traders Movie Review

John Bradley stars in Traders

Cashing in on Econocide

IMDb Plot: What if it made perfect sense for ordinary people to kill each other for money? Better than slow grinding financial ruin and misery, and all done according to a strict code by consenting adults. This is Trading. Directed by Rachael Moriarty & Peter Murphy. Stars Killian ScottJohn Bradley, Nika McGuigan, Tom Davis and Peter O'Meara.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, but Moriarty & Murphy takes that idiom to a whole new level in Traders. Some call it quits. Some regroup and start over. And some start an online "Fight Club" (to the death.) Bradley's Vernon does the latter, arguing, "It's two consenting adults entering into a business deal." Once you get past its semi-preposterous premise (it couldn't really happen, could it?) Traders takes off on a rollercoaster ride of economic and moral despair. Scott's a joy to watch, especially opposite the wormy Bradley; and there's laughs aplenty (Big John) throughout. Irreverent, original, and smart.

Grade: B+
