Tim's Cascade Snacks (Limited Edition) Review

I'm a sucker for (tasty) potato chips; so when I heard about Tim's Cascade Snacks' 30th anniversary limited edition offerings, my heart skipped a beat. Sounds kinda sad, I know; but with so many familiar flavors already out there, it's nice to try something new for a change. Enter Coney Island (new to me) and Lemon Kettle Style (new to everyone) to the rescue.

Tucked away in the Pacific Northwest's Cascade Mountains, Tim's is known for local farm-fresh potatoes and environmentally-friendly production methods. Sounds good, but I know them best for delicious, salty chips, including their insanely scrumptious Hawaiian Mango Habanero Kettle Style Potato Chips (one of our favorite all-time crisps.) Tim's new Lemon variety could be even better. Read on for details.

Coney Island: Tim's Special Batch #2 isn't new per se, but rather a throwback to one of its original flavors from the 80's. I've only been to Coney Island once (not my kind of place) but evidently they influence my kind of chip. Forget hot dogs; but prepare to be wowed by the perfect hint of mustard, on board one of the crunchier vessels on the market. Nice and salty too.

Hawaiian Island Lemon Kettle Style Potato Chips: Tim's Hawaiian Kettle Style chips are the best tasting crunchy chips available, but adding lemon to the mix is a stroke of culinary genius. Lemon's a bold choice; but one bite, and I guarantee you'll be hooked. They're definitely tart, but it produces a genuine flavor explosion in your mouth (on top of an avalanche of crunch.) What more could you ask of a potato chip? I'll be devastated if Tim's doesn't add it to their permanent rotation. Devastated.

That went well, didn't it? Check back in a month or two for a fuller (more chips!) review of Tim's Cascade snacks (Erin's Churro Popcorn, Hawaiian Luau Barbeque Rings.) They're not easy to find (I buy mine at Cost Plus World Market) but you can always order them online and skip the hunt. The rewards are infinite.
