Espita Mezcaleria to Kick off a "Taco Takeover" Guest Chef Series on March 28th

On Monday, March 28th, Espita Mezcaleria, the newly opened Southern Mexican-inspired restaurant located in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC will kick off their new monthly “Taco Takeover series. Taco fans are encouraged to stop by the restaurant on the last Monday of each month to sample specialty creations from guest chefs hailing from Washington, DC and New York City. Each month a different chef will showcase their own variation incorporating the restaurant’s hand-pressed tortillas made from freshly ground masa. First up, Chef/Owner Kwame Onwuachi of the upcoming restaurant, The Shaw Bijou, will offer a posole braised smoked ham hock with avocado and black lime crema, chicharrĂ³n and havas crumble taco. Tacos will be priced starting at $12 and up for orders of two to three. Additionally, Espita Mezcaleria’s Beverage Director Megan Barnes can suggest a featured mezcal or cocktail pairing to order to compliment the guest chefs’ dishes.

WHO: Kwame Onwuachi of The Shaw Bijou will be featured March 28th; Jeremiah Langhorne of The Dabney presides on April 25th; Nick Wiseman of DGS Delicatessen will be highlighted on May 30th; Marjorie Meek-Bradley of Ripple & Smoked & Stacked will visit on June 27th; Rob Aikens of Rainbow Room will be featured on July 25th and Akhtar Nawab of Choza Taqueria & Table will be showcased on August 29th.


WHEN: The series will take place on the last Monday of each month, exclusively during dinner service, from 5 PM to 1 AM.
