CUA Men's Basketball to Host NCAA First & Second Rounds

CUA Men's Basketball Wins Thriller Against Scranton, 79-74

The Catholic University of America men's basketball team won the 2016 Landmark Conference title on Saturday and on Monday, the NCAA Tournament Selection committee tabbed the Cardinals to host the first and second rounds of the Division III playoffs.

CUA (22-5) will host Commonwealth Coast Champion Endicott (18-10) on Friday at 7:30 PM, with the winner advancing to face either Wooster (21-7) or Lancaster Bible (27-0.)


Landmark Tournament MVP Bryson Fonville (18.8 PPG, 6.9 APG) leads an experienced group for head coach Steve Howes that also includes senior captains and twins, Kyle Phanord and Kevin Phanord.

Leading scorer Jay Howard (19.9 PPG, 6.7 RPG) and rebounder Corey Stanford (12. 4 PPG, 8.3 RPG) also pace a CUA squad that has won 10 games in a row and 14 of its last 15.
