Elli Benchimol, Head Bartender at the Rye Bar at Capella D.C. has created a "Snow Blossom" cocktail to herald the blossoming of the stunning cherry blossom trees in the capital city and at the same time delivering a nod to blooming U.S.-Japan relations. Known for her inventive takes on craft cocktails and incorporation of seasonal ingredients, the "Snow Blossom" cocktail is a welcome beverage for the arrival of Spring - the recipe as follows so that you can bring a dash of color and cherry blossom into your life:
The "Snow Blossom" cocktail is a frothy sour, of Japanese plum gin, cherry heering, peychauds bitters, lemon and egg whites.
Ingredients:
• 2 oz. Japanese Plum gin
• 1 oz. cherry heering
• 1 oz. lemon
• 1 egg white
• Peychauds bitters
Instructions:
• Shake vigorously for 30-45 seconds with ice
• Double strain into glass, use any blossom stencil desired
• Spray with peychauds bitters, garnish with luxardo cherries
