How to Be Single Movie Review

Dakota Johnson & Rebel Wilson (r) star in How to Be Single

To the Wrong Stuff

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: A young woman (Dakota Johnson) searches for love in New York City in this romantic comedy based on the novel by Liz Tuccillo, and produced by Drew Barrymore. Also stars Rebel Wilson, Alison Brie, Nicholas Braun and Leslie Mann. Directed by Christian Ditter.

Johnson confesses, "This is stupid. I should probably just go home." Dakota's dead on: Ditter's How to Be Single stinks. It features charmless, transparent characters, piss-poor writing ("Maybe I just used his dick as a scarf") and enough superficiality to make a Kardashian blush. There isn't an ounce of originality, unless you count rapid-fire (bad) jokes, shameless promiscuity and senseless reflection (is it duck or duct tape?) as entertainment. Questions to ponder: I wonder if Mann's water will break? Is Brie the worst actress in Hollywood? Should Ditter direct again? Spoiler alert: Yes, probably and no. Avoid at all costs.

Grade: F
