The Big Short Movie Review

Steve Carell & Ryan Gosling (r) star in The Big Short

Shake Your Moneymaker

IMDb Plot: Four outsiders in the world of high-finance, who predicted the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s decide to take on the big banks for their lack of foresight and greed. Directed by Adam McKay. Stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.

Leave it to the creator of Anchorman & Step Brothers to make sense of the 2007-08 financial crisis. McKay's The Big Short pits an all-star cast against a "piƱata of white people who suck at golf" with the global economy (seemingly) at stake. Whether or not the good guys are actually good remains a matter of opinion; but the process of betting against America is wildly entertaining, especially Margot Robbie in a bubble bath! Bale & Gosling are terrific, but Carell steals the show as the quintessential "righter of wrongs." Funny, frenetic, informative and downright scary (at times.) A must-see!
