Over 30 Embassies were represented, showcasing their culture and traditions at the Reagan Building

Yesterday the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB/ITC) hosted the 4th annual embassy showcase, Winternational. Thirty four embassies and 2,500 visitors participated in the lively midday celebration of international culture, travel, and tourism.

“Winternational is a great way to bring the international community and DC community together,” said John P. Drew, President and CEO of Trade Center Management Associates, the group that manages the RRB/ITC. “It’s a one of a kind experience where DC residents can travel the world - without the jet lag - and mingle with Ambassadors and diplomats to learn about different cultures and traditions, while getting a little holiday shopping done!”

The participating embassies included the African Union, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Costa Rica, Egypt, El Salvador, European Union Delegation, Fiji, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Latvia, League of Arab States, Macedonia, Mauritius, Montenegro, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay and Uzbekistan.

Andrew Gelfuso, Vice President of Trade at the RRB/ITC appeared on WJLA’s Good Morning Washington with Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Ambassador David John Newman of the Republic of Botswana. The interview can be found here.

Each embassy showcased items of cultural significance, including art, handmade crafts, teas and coffees. Items were available for purchase. Attendees were treated to music by renowned violinist Rafael Javadov.
