The Avalon Holiday Concert Features Marsha & the Positrons
One show only! Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 AM
Celebrate the season with your little ones at the Avalon by grooving to jazzy holiday tunes from Marsha & the Positrons!
Led by local DC singer/songwriter Marsha Goodman-Wood (who was also a featured entertainer during our last Weekend Family Matinees winter series in January), Marsha & the Positrons will perform holiday favorites mixed with songs from Marsha’s original debut album Gravity Vacation.
Marsha has performed at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the National Children’s Museum, Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore, and the Long Island Children’s Museum. She plays regularly at venues in the DC/MD/VA area that offer family entertainment, as well as libraries, schools, fairs and festivals. Her concerts are fun, playful, and educational - and entertaining for adults as well as kids!
The Positrons also includes djembe drummer & drum-maker extraordinaire Kweku Owusu, and skilled & smooth bassist Wardell Howell. Kweku is the founder of Drumming Up from Poverty, a project that mentors street children in Ghana by teaching them drumming, dancing and drum-making. Wardell is a longtime DC-area jazz bassist.
Come early to get winter-themed snacks and drinks at the Avalon Theatre Café before the show. All food and drink may be taken into the theater!
