From our friends at Macon Bistro & Larder...
Tis the season for merriment and celebration so for the entire month of December, Macon Bistro & Larder will be featuring six different sparkling wines: three Crémants and three Champagnes. Guests will have the choice of enjoying a flight of three Crémants $20, (excluding tax and gratuity) or a flight of three Champagnes for $30. Discounted pricing by the glass and by the bottle will be offered as well with weekly features which will be indicated on the menu as specials during the month.
Crémant is a methode traditionelle sparkling wine that is made in several different regions of France. It cannot be called Champagne because under French law, only wines made from the grapes grown and harvested in Champagne and then produced under the strict regulations of the Champagne appellation, can bear the Champagne name. However in terms of deliciousness and quality, Crémants are still fantastic and are less expensive alternatives to Champagne. The Crémants Macon Bistro & Larder will feature are: Domaine Maison Pere et Fils, Cremant de Loire, NV, 100% Chardonnay, $15 per glass and $60 per bottle; Domaine Pfister Cremant d'Alsace, NV, 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois for $18 per glass, and $72 a bottle; Badoz Cremant du Jura Rose, NV, 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Poulsard for $15 per glass and $60 per bottle.
Macon’s Champagnes to be featured are as follows: Oudinot Cuvee Rose Brut, NV, Pinot Meunier, Epernay, Champagne for $20 per glass and $80 per bottle; Pierre Gerbais "Prestige" Brut NV, 100% Chardonnay, Celles-sur-Ource, Champagne for $28 per glass and $110 per bottle, and Gonet-Medeville 1er Cru Cuvee Blanc de Noirs, Brut, NV, Champagne for $30 a glass and $120 a bottle.
“Most of these are grower producers and the selections we have chosen to feature this December highlight the vigneron’s ability to grow delicious grapes as well as cultivate them into delicious wines,” explains Macon’s General Manager/Beverage Director Andra Johnson (known to all as AJ). “Sparkling wines are festive and perfect for the holiday season. They pair beautifully with all types of cuisine, making them extremely versatile.”
