Legend Movie Review

Tom Hardy stars in Legend

Gangsta's Paradise Hell

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: From Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland comes the true story of the rise and fall of London's most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an incredible performance. LEGEND is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray Twins. Co-stars Paul BettanyEmily Browning, Chazz Palminteri and David Thewlis.

Browning's Frances laments, "London's bottom had reached the top." Was she referring to the Krays, or Helgeland's abysmal Legend? One can only wonder; but this I know... Legend is one of the most boring gangster movies ever made. You can blame Browning (who irritates at every turn) the film's overlong 131-minute runtime or one of the worst soundtracks in years. Take your pick: It's all pretty bad (save for Hardy, who's a literal blast as both Kray brothers.) Helgeland pushes listless romance at every turn, bypassing all things interesting along the way; and the end result is pure, unabashed disappointment.
