DC Central Kitchen to hold Capital Food Fight on November 12 with hosts José Andrés and Carla Hall
DC’s premiere foodie event returns with battling chefs Amy Brandwein, Harper McClure, Nick Stefanelli and K.N. Vinod, and tastes from 75 of DC’s best restaurants
Local Workforce development nonprofit and social enterprise DC Central Kitchen will hold its signature fundraising event, the Capital Food Fight, on November 12 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. Presented by Tyson Foods, the Capital Food Fight draws over 1,000 guests and offers food and drinks from more than 75 of DC’s best restaurants and mixologists.
On the main stage, four local chefs compete in an Iron Chef-style battle going to head-to-head with a secret ingredient. On the ballroom stage, four teams of pastry chefs build towering cakes in the High Stakes Cakes competition. Both battles are judged by culinary celebrities.
Hosts: Event founder José Andrés (Chef/Owner, ThinkFoodGroup) and co-host Carla Hall (ABC’s “The Chew.”)
Judges: Anne Burrell (Food Network’s “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef”), Richard Sandoval (Richard Sandoval Restaurants), and Spike Mendelsohn (Bravo’s “Top Chef” and Restaurateur.)
Competitors: Local chefs Amy Brandwein (Centrolina), Harper McClure (BRABO), Nick Stefanelli (Masseria), and K.N. Vinod (Indique.)
High Stakes Cakes:
The High Stakes Cakes competition highlights the extraordinary talents of our region’s pastry chefs and makes DC Central Kitchen’s Capital Food Fight a sweeter experience for everyone.
Hosts: Duff Goldman (Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes”) and Scott Thuman (Emmy-winning Senior Political Reporter, ABC7 News and News Channel 8.)
Judges: Beverly Bates-Coakley (Pastry Chef instructor, L’Academie de Cuisine), Padua Player (Suga Chef), Kate Jansen (Pastry Chef), Susan Limb (Co-Owner of Praline Bakery & Bistro), and Sherry Yard (Vice President, Culinary Direction iPic Entertainment.)
Competitors: Erin Schwartz (Founder, Stacked), Teri Tarbox (Co-Owner, Simply Cakelicious), Ryan Westover (Chef Instructor Baking and Pastry Arts, Stratford University), Sharon White (Founder and Lead Cake Designer, The Cake Courtesan.)
